The victim in a Tuesday shooting that led to a brief lockdown at J.H. Rose High School has been arrested along with another man on marijuana charges, according to police records.

Khai Monteece Harris, 22, of 1606 Brown Place Drive, Greenville, was shot about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Concord Drive and treated for injuries at ECH Health Medical Center. Police records indicate he was charged with felony possession with the intent to sell marijuana on Wednesday at 2100 Stantonsburg Road, the address of ECU Health Medical Center.

Reginald Dayshon Carney, 23, of 1016 Benjamin Drive, was arrested for possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on Concord Drive.

Greenville Police Spokeswoman Kristen Hunter said the shooting was believed to be drug-related and that Carney was with Harris at the time of the incident. Carney was unharmed. Harris was found to be in possession of an amount of marijuana to warrant the charge, Hunter said.

Shye’O’Brian Roberson, 19, of 1913 Kennedy Circle, was charged Tuesday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a handgun by a minor in connection to the shooting.

J.H. Rose High School was placed on lockdown for 10-15 minutes as police searched for Roberson. He was arrested in the area of Deck Street a short time after the shooting. A firearm was recovered at the time.

Roberson was jailed at Pitt County Detention Center. His bond status was not available. Harris and Carney were released on bond.

Harris has a prior arrest for possession from March 2021. He was on probation at the time of his arrest Wednesday.
