WALLACE — The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Sydney Louis Miller, 61, whose body was found near U.S. 117 Highway on Aug. 16, in the early morning.

According to reports, authorities shut down the highway between Carter Street and N.C. 11 to investigate. Miller was from the Brunswick County area.

“A deceased human body was located on the side of the road by a person driving down the highway,” read a social media statement posted by the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office. “The body has been sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy to determine a possible cause of death and the investigation is ongoing at this time.”

More information to follow as it is released pending the autopsy.
